Hospital - Day 2

It is pneumonia. And something else. Still not sure. Anyway, Ian was doing peachy until the afternoon when he tanked. Oxygen levels in the sixties. Lots of doctors scurrying. Couple shots of adrenaline and hours on the nebulizer. Ian turned into the Incredible Hulk, requiring four nurses to hold him down in order to poke him a few times to find his itsy bitsy teeny weenie veins for an IV.

He's in intensive care tonight so they can monitor him full-time. He was doing groovy when I left and Annie just called to let me know he's off the nebulizer. How he hates that contraption. Like Bush hates a two-part question.

Annie ran into a friend from our Down syndrome group; turns out her daughter has been there for nine days! Please, God, let that be the exception.

Oh no! Poor little guy!!! I soooo remember those days. thinking your kid "just needs to be seen" only to end up in the hospital with people rushing around! Pneumonia can hit our kids pretty quickly, and pretty hard. Part of the problem goes back to that stupid low muscle tone (Insert big fat sigh here! I used to get sooo sick of hearing everything blamed on that. LOL) It causes them to not cough very effectively. I hope Ian recovers quickly. Angela had problems with frequent pneumonia till she was abouat 4. After that she'd still get it, but we could manage it at home. She just had it again this fall, and spent one night in the hospital. Found out later she actually had whooping cough! (which she had just had a booster against 4 months before)

Tom, we are praying for Ian your All this can be scary, huh? Ian's a fighter though so I bet he recovers soon. Thanks for posting this to let us know what's going on.

I'm sorry, that stinks on ice. I'm glad he's getting good care, although maybe they shoulda gotten the IV started before they juiced him up, lol. Understand the 'finding veins' bit all too well.
My best hopes that Ian kicks this thing to the curb and gets outta there very soon.

Ugh!!! Sorry to hear Ian's in the hospital. Those are scary O2 numbers. Glad he's being watched closely.
