People First animation

I've never been much of a slogan guy. You'll never find me out in the streets with a sign touting three word mantras. (I'm not knocking those who do, mind you. Just not my bag, babe.) But I was playing around with some new templates for Motion 3 (I use Motion 2 at work) I uploaded onto my computer tonight and threw together a quick test to see what it looks like.

People First.

I'm not a slogan person either, but that sure is a good one! One thing I don't like about labels (helpful as they are at times for explaining things in a few words) is when people define other people by such labels (e.g. He IS bipolar; She IS schizophrenic...) Every individual may have any number of things going on in their body and brain and spirit, which causes them to deviate from standard of "norm", but they are not first and foremost those things. Everyone is, first of all, a person. Even "positive" labels such as "genius" or "smart" can be used to isolate, if it is not remembered that deeper than "smart" is "person". Okay, so this video hit one of my emotional rant buttons! And I really do like it! I think it's amazing you can do stuff like this.

Good one!

Tom, excellent! Short and sweet. I like the combination of the reflection and the off-axis rotation. It comes at you, both the image and message

I was sufficiently tantalized to see more...kinda sad when it stopped. For me, that's good. I'm great at ignoring, but it caught my attention. Nice work/template testing.

Eclexia: Seems like labels just make life easier, but not necessarily more accurate.. Glad you liked the video, and rant away! :)

GIGBS: Thanks.

Will: Thanks.

RK: Next one will be 20 seconds long... we'll see if you snooze off on that one. :)

It amazes me how many people- even medical people- don't think about this. Last night I was on Dr Sears.com and the entire entry on Ds talked about "Down syndrome babies."

Disappointing.

Elsie: Thanks!

Laurie: I'm still a newbie at all this and probably would have said some pretty dumb things before Ian was born. Here's to growing... :)

I like that. Mind if I pick it up on my blog?

Although I still like, "My kid has more chromosomes than your kid!"
